Snapchat (My AI): AI settings for parents
My AI is a chatbot pinned in Chat. Parents can switch it off in Family Center.
Can a parent turn it off? Yes, you can turn it off
Yes. Once your teen accepts your Family Center invite, you can turn on a “Disable My AI” setting. When it is on, My AI will not reply to your teen.
What the AI feature is
My AI is a chatbot built into Snapchat. It sits in the Chat tab like a friend, and kids can ask it questions, chat with it, or send it Snaps.
Age rules
- Snapchat is for ages 13 and up.
- Family Center works for teens aged 13 to 17. The parent needs their own Snapchat account and must be friends with the teen on Snapchat.

- Make sure you and your teen are friends on Snapchat.

What parents should know
- With “Disable My AI” on, Snap says My AI will not store or process your teen's messages or reply to them.
- Family Center does not let you read your teen's chats with My AI or with anyone else.
- Snap keeps My AI chats until they are deleted. Snap also says My AI can use location and chat content to show ads.
- Family Center only works after your teen accepts the invite. If they remove you, the setting stops working.
